Samsung unveils Galaxy Grand 2013

Apart from battling with Apple for patents and devices, Samsung is busy launching new products. The latest to be revealed is the Samsung Galaxy Grand. A quick look at the technical specifications

• 5″ screen
• The most interesting feature is, it runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
• Dual core 1.2 GHz Processor.
• RAM – 1 GB
• Camera rear – 8 MP with 1080 pixel video capture ability
• Camera front – 2 MP
• WiFi, GPS
• No 4G LTE Connectivity

Two models will be available – GT l9080 and GT l9082. The former will have single SIM and the latter dual SIM.

Both the models will have features like Popup video, Direct Call, Smart Alert and S- Voice. The S Voice is the voice activated assistant, much like Apple’s Siri. Thinking of buying it already? Wait, we don’t know the price yet. Samsung will display the new models at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2013.

What is good in Samsung Grand?

As per Samsung’s official blog Samsung Global that has announced the unveiling of the new device, there are a few points that are worthy of attention. To start with is the camera that boasts of zero shutter lag. There is supposed to be abackside illumination sensor to help you to take clear pics even in a not so brightly illuminated place.

Some features have also been elaborated. Like the Direct Call lets a user simply hold the phone near ear and the smart phone will promtly call up the contact. Smart Video will let you multi task. You can watch a video while working on other apps or tasks, the video will basically work as a pop up. All Share Play lets you share your content with all Samsung devices using a single account.

What’s bad?

It’s nothing great and mind blowing. The features are good enough but not enough to make you change from your current Samsung smartphone to this one.
